Located on the south-east corner of the Iberian Peninsula, between the regions Andalusia,Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia, Murcia has an area of 11,317 km2 (2.2% of the totalarea of Spain).


The Murcia region is situated in the center of the Spanish Mediterranean arc and has a typical subtropical Mediterranean climate.


From a geographic standpoint, the region is distinguished by its many contrasts: dry vs.irrigated land, plains vs. mountainous areas, coastal vs. interior.
