Once a rich strategically located Phoenecian port that resurfaced as a silver mining boom town in the 19th century, the village remains a traditional fishing village, where small craft return each morning with their catch to satisfy the demands of local restaurants, beach bars and markets. The village hosts various fiestas during the summer months.
